2012 summer housing applications are available!

If you are registered for USM summer courses or pre-registered for fall 2012, you may apply.

Past due Spring 2012 charges must be cleared prior to assignment. In most cases, summer housing charges must be paid in full as they are incurred. However, a payment plan option may be available if you are a USM student applying for full summer housing. Please contact the Student Accounts office at 780-5200 to discuss a full summer payment plan.

To request an application, stop by 100 Upton Hall, send an e-mail or call 207-780-5240 to have an application mailed or faxed to you.

The summer housing session runs from Sunday, May 13 to Friday, August 17. You must plan to move out on or before Friday, August 17. If you have a fall housing assignment and wish to explore the possibility of leaving your possessions in your fall assignment, please contact our office for consideration of that request. No fall room key will be issued, and staff will not check you in at that time. Please note you must move to off campus accommodations between the end of summer session and your official fall move in date.

Accommodations and amenities include:

• Nightly, weekly, and full summer doubles and singles on the Gorham campus in Robie Hall. Room are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If a double room is not fully occupied and no roommate is specified on the application, a roommate may still be assigned at any time.
• Floors are single gender
• Bathrooms are single gender community style
• Furnishings include standard twin size bed, desk, desk chair, closet(s), drawer space and MicroFridge unit (combination microwave, refrigerator and freezer).
• Linen rental on a nightly or weekly basis, or you may provide your own
• Common kitchen available on first floor
• High speed wired internet access in each room for students
• 24 hour staff coverage
• Limited meal plans may be available during the summer months; please call Dining Services at 780-5420 to inquire or see www.southernmaine.campusdish.com for dates, times and locations.
• Numerous restaurants within a short walking distance; Hannaford grocery store is about a 10 minute walk away

Other items to note:

• There is no shuttle service between campuses during summer session. Please provide your own transportation.
• No pets in the residence halls besides fish in aquariums, seeing eye dogs or simian aids. Service animals must be approved through the Office of Support for Students with Disabilities.
• Health and fire regulations prohibit cooking in residence hall rooms. Heating food in the microwave is permitted.
• You may want to bring extra lighting and a fan
• Robie Andrews is a non-smoking building.
• All residence hall policies are in effect

Registration and account status will be verified prior to making a housing assignment. A confirmation letter with room assignment, check-in information and balance due will be mailed or e-mailed to you, depending on arrival date. Please remember that charges must be paid before moving in. Make checks payable to USM and mail to Dept. of Residential Life, 37 College Ave., Gorham, ME 04038. Only full summer accommodations may eligible for a three payment plan through the Student Accounts office.

Summer 2012 Rates

Linen rental charge is $4.00 per night or $20.00 per week. Linens include towel, washcloth, sheets, pillow, pillowcase and blanket.

Summer Housing Refund Rate Policy:

Written cancellation prior to arrival.........................................................100%

Written cancellation after arrival but prior to mid-point of reserved stay...50%

Written cancellation at or after mid-point of reserved stay...................... NO REFUND
