Internship Health Requirements and Documentation

Students preparing for Internship (REC 495), must submit the following PRIOR to the end of REC 494: Professional Foundations of Therapeutic Recreation Practice, unless a different agreement is made with the instructor.

* Please submit a copy of your Certification in Red Cross Emergency Response and in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) directly to your instructor. The certifications must be active during internship.

(CPR courses are offered by the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. You may also take the CPR course in CON 216.)

* Two PPD/Purified Protein Derivative tests (intradermal injection) administered two weeks apart. A chest x-ray is acceptable if you have had a positive PPD in the past or if PPD's are contraindicated. If you have annual PPD's please submit your two most recent.

* Proof of health insurance coverage that will be in affect while on internship. A copy of your card is acceptable.

Enrollment in the Nature Tourism Minor can increase your understanding and enjoyment of nature while enhancing future employment opportunities in ecotourism and adventure recreation businesses, wilderness equipment outfitters, or organizations that focus on environmental education.
