Two University of Southern Maine School of Business graduates continue to find success in their professional endeavors right here in the Greater Portland area. Tammy Volock has been named controller at locally based Clark Insurance, while Justin Hayden now holds the title of financial analyst at the agency.

Two members of the Unum Scholars program from the University of Southern Maine have already landed full-time roles with the company.
Three University of Southern Maine Business students received a combined total of $26,000 in scholarships from the Patriot Education Scholarship Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.

In an exciting new academic/corporate partnership, twelve students from the University of Southern Maine were chosen this summer to be the first students in Maine to become part of the new Unum Scholars program. The Scholars are hired as employees at Unum, working in a specially-created team supported by mentors, and allowing them to job shadow throughout the company. The program provides students valuable work experience at a Fortune 500 company as they apply their learning towards their jobs, and gain a head start towards potential full-time employment when they graduate.
The University of Southern Maine’s School of Business is the “best choice for Portland-area professionals” for the second consecutive year, according to The Princeton Review.
Dr. John Voyer, professor of business administration in the University of Southern Maine School of Business and the Sam Walton Fellow advisor to the USM Enactus team, has been appointed to a three-year term on the Enactus United States Faculty Advisory Committee.
The USM Enactus team won its seventh Enactus Regional Championship during their visit to New York City in spring 2013. The team will now move on to Kansas City, MO, for the Enactus USA National Exposition on May 21-23.

The 2012 Donald Hardigree Memorial Outstanding Paper Award has been given to Dr. Dana Kerr for his article “Exploring the Role of Pseudodeductibles in Auto Insurance Claims Reporting,” which appeared in the Journal of Insurance Issues.
The University of Southern Maine’s School of Business is ‘the best choice for Portland-area professionals,’ according to The Princeton Review. The education services company features the school in the new 2013 edition of its annual guidebook “The Best 296 Business Schools.”
This summer, 20 undergraduate and graduate students in the USM School of Business had the once in a lifetime opportunity of attending London’s Olympic Games as part of the study abroad course “London 2012: Management, Marketing and the Cultural Olympics.”
