USM Scholarships

Martha M. Skoner Memorial Nursing Scholarship


This scholarship was established in 2012 by a bequest from the estate of Martha M. Skoner. Ms. Skoner, a Professor Emerita of Nursing, taught at USM from 1987 - 1999. Martha dedicated her life to nursing and had a particular interest in the areas of incontinence in women and holistic health. 


Eligible students must be Maine residents, matriculated in the School of Nursing, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate a passion for nursing and an interest in working with or researching older adults living in the community, incontinence in women, and/or holistic health. Selection of the recipient(s) shall be made by the School of Nursing Scholarship committee.

Award Amount



January 30 for current Nursing students, April 1 for students expecting to matriculate to Nursing in May or September
