Osher Reentry Scholarship Endowment

Description

This scholarship was established at the University of Southern Maine Foundation to benefit the University of Southern Maine in 2009 by the Bernard Osher Foundation. Scholarship recipients will be known as Osher Reentry Scholars. 

Eligibility

  1. Students have experienced a cumulative gap in their education of 5 or more years
  2. Students are at the undergraduate level and pursuing their first baccalaureate degree, either full or part-time (minimum enrollment of 6 credit hours per semester).
  3. At least 50% of credit hours must be earned in traditional classroom courses (not on-line) in any semester.  On-line courses are allowed, provided they don’t exceed 50% of the total credit hours in any semester.
  4. Students anticipate participation in the workforce for a significant period of time subsequent to graduation and are ideally between the ages of 25-50.
  5. Demonstrated financial need, not necessarily on their FAFSA
  6. Academic promise and commitment to obtaining their degree

Award Amount

Not to exceed $5,000 per student, per award cycle (12 months) and are to be applied to tuition exclusively.

Dec 4th for Spring and June 10 for Fall

Submit Osher Reentry Scholarship application, a statement of educational purpose, and a statement of financial need postmarked no later than December 4th for Spring and June 10th for Fall.

Submit a new Osher Reentry Scholarship application, a statement of educational purpose, and a statement of financial need postmarked no later than December 4th for Spring and June 10th for Fall.
