Recovery Oriented Campus Center Scholarship

Description

The ROCC (Recovery Oriented Campus Center) Scholarship was created at the University of Southern Maine (USM) in 2016 with a gift received through the University of Southern Maine Foundation (USMF).

The fund shall be used to support students as follows:

  • Three (3) awards of $3,000-$3,500 will be given each semester beginning in Spring 2017, as funds are available.
  • Preference will be given to students who self-identify as in recovery for alcohol and/or drug addiction.
  • Recipients must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours), maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have demonstrated financial need.

The selection of recipients shall be made by the office of Enrollment Managment and Student Affairs, in consultation with staff from the Counseling Center, Campus Life, and Dean of Students offices, or successor administrative units.

The fund shall be administered by the Office of Financial Aid.

Submit a 250-500 word essay that addresses the following:

  1. Financial need
  2. Intent of the scholarship
