Stonecoast in the City 2008 Every year, the Stonecoast MFA community hosts a festive celebration of Stonecoast writing in a major urban area, usually Boston or New York. Organized by Stonecoast alumni, Stonecoast in the City brings together faculty, students, alums, prospective students, and friends of the program for a reading and party. Part family reunion and part program showcase, open to the public and enthusiastically attended by students and alums in the area, Stonecoast in the City is a unifying event. The reading usually features two headliners-one faculty member and one alum who has recently published a book-followed by alumni readers who share their work for about ten minutes each. The evening ends with an open mic for current Stonecoast students The food, drink, readings and company at Stonecoast in the City are always delightful, and anyone interested in learning more about the Stonecoast MFA is warmly invited to attend. This year's Stonecoast in the City will be held at Newtonville Books, in Newton, Massachusetts, on Saturday November 8, 2008, at 4:00 P.M.
