Each January, students enrolled in the Stonecoast MFA program have the opportunity to participate in Stonecoast at San Miguel Poetry Week in the extraordinary and inspiring city of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Any student in the program who meets the qualifications to enroll in a workshop in poetry (whether through having originally been accepted in poetry, or through having a current poetry faculty member certify that their poetry is ready) is eligible to participate in this poetry-only program.
Students in Stonecoast at San Miguel will participate in an intensive and inspiring seven-day program, including morning workshops, afternoon lecture/discussion classes on literature, evening readings, and a special two-day intensive on Rhythms of Poetry.

Merwin, Stanley Moss, Paul Muldoon, Ruth Padel, Walter Pavlich, Robert Phillips, Francine Ringold, Jerome Rothenberg, Alastair Reid, David St. Tomaz Salamun, John, Grace Schulman, Owen Sheers, Naomi Shihab Nye, W.D. Each residency will also include a Stonecoast poetry faculty member who will teach the Rhythms of Poetry intensive. Stonecoast at San Miguel students will choose their mentor preferences for the following semester from the full roster of Stonecoast faculty.
