The Division of Student Affairs & Enrollement Management provides learning opportunities and support that enhances the educational, professional and personal goals of USM students. USM students are challenged and transformed through experiences inside and outside the classroom.

Admission. Undergraduate Admission now has a presence on all three of USM’s campuses: 37 College Avenue, Gorham; 39 Exeter Street, Portland; Lewiston-Auburn College. Rachel Morales is the Interim Director.
Athletics. USM’s Division III athletic teams are housed in the Hill Gym and Costello Field House and led by Al Bean, USM’s Athletic Director. During the Spring 2014 semester, the Gorham Fitness Center will begin a transition to become part of Athletics.
Counseling Services. University Counseling Services is headed by Bob Small. Services and programs are offered on all three of USM’s campuses.
Health Services. University Health Services is headed by Lisa Belanger. The primary service location is on the Gorham campus (Upton Hall), although clinics and other programs are offered on all three of USM’s campuses.
Prior Learning Assessment. Assessment of prior learning is becoming increasingly important to our work, particularly with adult students. The office is located on the first floor of Payson Smith Hall. Joyce Lapping is the Director.
Registrar. The Registrar’s office is located in Bailey Hall on the Gorham campus. Registration services are available through the Student Success Centers on both the Portland and Lewiston-Auburn College campuses. Steven Rand is the Registrar.
Student Success. This area includes the three Student Success Centers, the Disabilities Services Center, Veterans Services, STRIVE U and Learning Assistance within the Learning Commons. This area is headed by Beth Higgins.
Student and University Life. Student & University Life is comprised of Diversity & Inclusiveness, USM Dining, Gorham Student Life (includes the residence halls, Gorham Recreation, Intramurals, and wellness programs, and student activities); Portland Student Life (includes the Sullivan Complex, WMPG, Free Press, Portland Campus activities, Student Government, Student Organizations, and the Woodbury Campus Center) and Student Conduct. Joy Pufhal is heading this area as Executive Director and also serving in the role of Interim Dean of Students.
