Civic Engagement Coordinating Committee
A number of USM faculty and staff with responsibilities and/or interests related to civic engagement are members of the Civic Engagement Coordinating Committee (CECC), which typically meets twice a semester to share ideas and plans for the future. The current initiatives undertaken by the CECC include the following:
- Working toward the institutionalization of civic engagement at USM.
- Preparing an inventory of civic engagement programs at USM to better coordinate our efforts.
- Establishing and maintaining student representation on this body.
- Providing encouragement and support to faculty who want to start incorporating service learning into their courses and recognition to those who already do.
The membership of the CECC includes representitives from many different parts of the university, including faculty, staff, and students.
