Greek Expectations

Greek Life Expectations:

            Chapter Expectations Fall 2013 / Spring 2014:

1.)    Chapter risk management policies must be submitted to Study life no later than September 13, 2013.

2.)    Chapter has an executive position dedicated to financial management no later than September 13, 2013.

3.)    Chapter has an active position or committee chair dedicated to alumni, family relations, and/or community relations no later than September 13, 2013.

4.)    Chapter has an active position or committee chair dedicated to community service, and or philanthropy no later than September 13, 2013.

5.)    A progress report of achievement towards annual recruitment goals must be submitted no later than October 18, 2013.

6.)    Each chapter has completed the Party Program, though the Office of Substance Abuse Prevention by October 21, 2013.

  1. All E-board members, 50% of chapter membership.
  2. Bonus: 75% chapter attendance
  3. Bonus: 90% chapter attendance
  4. Bonus: New members attend training in the spring semester

7.)    Each chapter has completed the Campus Safety Project Program though the Office of Student Life

  1. All E-Board members, 50% of chapter membership
  2. Bonus: 75% chapter attendance
  3. Bonus: 90% chapter attendance
  4. Bonus: New members attend training in the spring semester

8.)    No less than 50% of a chapter will attend the Fall Greek Retreat.

  1. Bonus: 70% attendance
  2. Bonus: 90% attendance

9.)    A progress report of Achievement towards annual recruitment goals must be submitted no later than February 21st, 2013

10.) Chapter has not been found responsible for a violation of the University of Southern Maine’s Code of Conduct.

  1. Student Life will maintain records of violations of policy, including Risk Management Policies. A violation at a Greek Organization Event will hold the organization responsible.

 

Chapter Academic Expectations:

1.)    Each chapter must receive no lower than a cumulative 2.50 GPA between its active members, between both fall and spring semester.

Academic Bonuses:

1.)    Fall Semester All Member GPA:

  1. Bonus: Every (.01-.05) above the average.
  2. Benchmark: At All Women’s/Men’s average.

2.)    Spring Semester All Member GPA:

  1. Bonus: Every (.01-.05) above the average
  2. Benchmark: At All Women’s/Men’s average.

3.)    Fall Semester Continuing Member GPA:

  1. Bonus: Every (.01-.05) above the average
  2. Benchmark: At All Women’s/Men’s average.

4.)    Spring Semester Continuing Member GPA:

  1. Bonus: Every (.01-.05) above the average
  2. Benchmark: At All Women’s/Men’s average.

5.)    Fall Semester New member GPA:

  1. Bonus: Every (.01-.05) above the average.
  2. Benchmark: At All Women’s/Men’s average.

6.)    Spring Semester New Member GPA:

  1. Bonus: Every (.01-.05) above the average.
  2. Benchmark: At All Women’s/Men’s average.

7.)    Fall Semester Study Hours:

  1. Benchmark: 7 hours per member
  2. Bonus: 15 hour per member
  3. Bonus: 30 hours per member

8.)    Spring Semester Study Hours:

  1. Benchmark: 7 hours per member
  2. Bonus: 15 hours per member
  3. Bonus: 30 hours per member

 

When the violation is a result of solely failing to comply with all the guidelines set forth in this document the following section of the Code applies:

“Section III. Number 5.  Violations of a campus-specific or system-wide regulation, policy, standard of conduct or code of ethics applicable to the activity in which the student is engaged and which has been adopted, published or otherwise made know to students participating in such activity.”
