Held on October 24th in
commemoration of United Nations Day, this event will focus on that venerable
institution and on how it and the responsibility to protect (R2P) are
essential to building and sustaining a more just and humane world. By
attending this event and engaging with our fantastic panel, you can be apart
of that mission. The panel for this rendition of “Paving the Way to a
Better World” may be even better than the first one. We’ve got Ambassador
Charles F. Dunbar, former U.S. Ambassador to Qatar among other places and a
highly regarded authority on peacekeeping and diplomatic affairs. Joining
Ambassador Dunbar is Dr. Pauline H. Baker, President Emeritus of the Fund for
Peace, one of the preeminent civil society organizations in the world whose
mission is fostering a lasting and widespread environment of global peace.
Dr. Baker also possesses a wealth of practical and academic experience,
including having worked for various committees in the United States Senate
and serving as an expert on the Africa region. Also participating on the
panel is Dr. Ali Abdullatif Ahmida, a professor at the University of New
England with a wide range of expertise in comparative politics with a special
focus on Africa and Libya in particular.
