USM's work to give chemistry students real world experience as analysts and chemical testers for Maine's growing beer industry is once again earning attention. The program was recently featured in the Portland Press Herald and on National Public Radio's "Morning Edition."
Glenn Cummings began his second year as the University of Southern Maine's president with a flurry of announcements including climbing enrollment, a new signed agreement with Iceland's Reykjavik University and a $500,000 gift to provide scholarships for nursing students. The announcements headlined USM's annual Opening Breakfast Thursday on the Gorham Campus with more than 500 of the school's faculty and staff.
New interim Dean of Students David McKenzie returns to his hometown of Portland in taking on this new role. He brings nearly twenty-five years as a higher education professional at the community college, comprehensive and research university level, including most recently at the California State University system.
