Efforts to help veterans achieve and excel at the University of Southern Maine earned both honors from the nationwide Student Veterans of America and a meet-and-greet with former Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald.
WMPG, Southern Maine's Community Radio at the University of Southern Maine, is hosting the 19th Annual Homelessness Marathon Radio Broadcast on January 19, airing from 7-11 p.m., EST, with other stations nationwide.
The University of Southern Maine will celebrate its new Food Studies Program with a Feb. 9 launch on the Portland Campus. Speaking at the 5 p.m. celebration are USM President Glenn Cummings; Michael Hillard, the new program's executive director; Kristin Reynolds, a visiting scholar to USM and the co-author of "Beyond the Kale: Urban Agriculture and Social Justice Activism in New York City;" and Kristen Miale, president of Good Shepherd Food Bank. The event will take place in the University Events Room on the 7th floor of the Glickman Library.
