USM students and the public can view one of the rare 1494 printed copies of Christopher Columbus' letter describing his voyage to the "New World." It is one of only two copies in the northeastern U.S. and only one of 80 in existence worldwide, and it is part of the collection of The Osher Map Library and Smith Center for Cartographic Education at USM.
