The nonprofit magazine Washington Monthly has named the University of Southern Maine as one of the top four-year schools in the country for adult learners. It's ranking — the first of its kind aimed at students age 25 an over — lists USM at #38. No other Maine school made the list.
USM's work to give chemistry students real world experience as analysts and chemical testers for Maine's growing beer industry is once again earning attention. The program was recently featured in the Portland Press Herald and on National Public Radio's "Morning Edition."
