Program Schedule
Space is limited and pre-registration is
required for all S.M.O.R. programs. Please call 780-4939 or stop by the office
at 104 Sullivan Complex in Portland. Payment is taken at time of registration for all programs.
*A ten day cancellation notice
is required for refunds.

deposits are contingent upon participation in chosen activity.

Scarborough
Marsh
Canoe
Paddle
Saturday, September 12th - 9am-2pm
Scarborough
Marsh is a quiet place to kick back in your canoe and watch the wildlife.
This is
Maine
’s largest salt marsh, and home to 27 species of endangered, threatened, and
rare birds.
Come for the birds or just for the scenery, these marshes are difficult
to visit any other way than
by small watercraft, so don’t miss your chance.
Cost: $15
students, $25 spouse or domestic partner

Maine
’s coastline is known
worldwide for its rugged beauty and dramatic glacially carved features.
One of the most unique experiences of our coastline that you can have is
to see it from the water, with the close quiet intimacy that a kayak offers.
We will visit several nearby destinations for a diverse sample of the
Maine
Coast
.
No
experience is necessary to participate, come for one trip or all of them, each
will include a basic paddle lesson to start and on the water instruction as
needed or requested.
This
trip is open to students, faculty/staff and domestic partners.
Cost:
$15 student, and $25 faculty/staff, domestic partner per trip.
The
estimated time for each trip is from
8am until 3 pm.
Saco
River
Canoe and Camping Trip

Saturday, September 19th to
Sunday, September 20th
Two days of canoeing on the crystal clear waters of the beautiful
Saco
River
. Enjoy spectacular views of the
mountains in fall color.
This
is a great trip for everyone with two leisure days on the river, and one night
of camping along it’s banks.
Canoes,
paddles, life jackets, food, transportation and instruction are provided.
Some camping
equipment is available.
This trip is
open to students and domestic partners.
Cost:
$40 student, $55 spouse or domestic partner.
Mountain
Biking
Saturday,
September 26th

Anyone
interested in getting together with a group to go for a mountain biking ride on
the
Maine
trails? Our first trip will be local
as a warm up preparing us for the second destination
in
October which will offer a more challenging ride.
Bring
your own Bike and Helmets are required.

$5 for students,

Tumbledown
Mountain Hiking
and
Camping Trip

Saturday,
October 3rd to Sunday, October 4th
Ready to go for a hike and check out the foliage…then
come hike in
Maine
and
get a look at the spectacular mountains in fall colors of October in
New England
.
We’ll have a full day of hiking followed by dinner & an overnight camping
experience.
On Sunday’s ride home we’ll stop to explore and have lunch at
Smalls
Falls
for a look at a
New
England Waterfall before the journey home.
Some camping equipment is
available.
This trip is open to
students and domestic partners.

Moon Night Hike and Star Gazing

Mountain
is a short stairway to the
heavens, and there is so much to see.
The winter sky is emerging with characters you are sure to recognize.
Pegasus, Taurus, Orion,
the Big Dipper, and more will be in view! So
come enjoy the celestial scenery with cocoa in hand.

Learn
to Ski or Snowboard

Sunday,
December 6th
This trip is made for rookies.
Beginners will receive rental equipment (skis, boards, boots, and poles),
a limited access lift ticket and a lesson with a professional instructor.
Transportation is limited.
Experienced skiers welcome if room provides.
Location either Sunday River or Shawnee Peak.
Cost:
$30.00 students,
$50.00 faculty/staff, spouse, or domestic partner

The New England Ski Pass 09-10 offers Unlimited skiing and riding all
season
at Sugarloaf, Sunday River & Loon Mtn. Must be a full-time student, 12+
credits per semester, with valid college or university photo identification
& stamped letter of full time enrollment from registrar's office.
$329 if purchased by November 30, 2009

College Students - graduate, part-time, full-time - are invited to take
