For High School Students
The Southern Maine Music Academy has an established reputation as one of New England's premier summer music programs. This exciting, yet demanding, nine-day program gives high school musicians the opportunity for musical growth and development through intensive group and individualized instruction provided by qualified staff and professional musicians.
All academy members will participate in concert band, instrument sectionals and small ensembles. Students, who wish, may also audition for jazz band. In addition, academy members will have the opportunity to enjoy free concerts performed by professional local musicians and non-musical recreational activities.
Applicants should play one of the following instruments:
- flute
- oboe
- bassoon
- clarinet
- saxophone
- percussion/set drums
- french horn
|
|
- trumpet
- trombone
- baritone/euphonium
- tuba
- guitar *
- piano *
|
* guitarists and pianists should also play a wind or percussion instrument. Guitar and piano is available in the Jazz Band portion of the Academy and auditions will be held for those instruments.
Instrumentation is limited, so placement will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
