A day camp for students of all levels, ages 13-18
In its fourth year! The University of Southern Maine and Portland Ballet team up once again to bring high school-aged students an opportunity to study Musical Theatre Dance in a workshop setting, with all classes being held in Russell Hall on the USM Gorham campus.
This week-long, full day intensive from 8AM -5PM, Monday - Friday, will focus on the jazz dance techniques used in musical theatre, including warm-ups, combinations, and choreography. The program will also include ballet and tap techniques, as well as elements of acting and singing. On Saturday, July 12th , the students will experience what it takes to put on a performance - starting at 9AM, the dancers will take part in preparing the theatre and themselves, culminating in a free final performance for the public at 1pm on Saturday, July 12, 2008 in the Russell Hall Theater.
Students are encouraged to bring a snack for break time and plenty of water each day.
