CRM 345 (6 Credits)

This exciting program in Sweden allows students to gain an insight and understanding of crime, criminology, and social control in Sweden while obtaining a sound foundation for further work in the area of comparative criminology. Students will attend guest lectures by members of the criminal justice institutions in Stockholm and criminologists at the internationally known Criminology Institute at the University of Stockholm. Criminology in Sweden also provides students the opportunity to live, study, and experience another culture.

This study tour of crime and social control in Sweden includes visits to the police department in Stockholm, the court system, and several prisons in different cities, as well as several museums. The program is scheduled in May to allow students ample time to return home and work (or take additional summer courses) during the summer. This is USM's oldest summer program abroad, dating back to the mid-eighties. It is extremely popular and space is limited.
