Theravada Buddhism in Thailand

Francis J. Murray, AB (Philosophy and Classics) Fordham; Ph.D. (Anthropology) Pittsburgh. Since 2001, Dr. Murray has been a part-time lecturer in the Department of Philosophy. He previously held senior academic positions in Australia. Dr. Murray has extensive experience of living and working in Thailand as a consulting anthropologist and project director and speaks Thai. Dr. Murray brought students to Thailand in 2006 and 2008 and is excited to bring students again.
In Thailand, our group will be joined by Umaporn Phensupha. Khun Umaporn, who has a B.A. in English from Prince of Songkhla University (Thailand) and an M.A. in Anthropology from Ateneo University (Philippines), and lives in Phitsanulok. She and Dr. Murray worked together on a development assistance project there from 1991-1993 and she assisted with this USM program in Thailand in 2006 and 2008.
