Dr. Lazar has been a member of the School of Social Work since 1975. She received her MSW degree from Boston University in 1972 with concentrations in groupwork and casework. She completed a doctoral degree in 1995 at Simmons College School of Social Work with a dissertation about social work practice and television violence. Dr. Lazar teaches in the Human Behavior and the Social Environment and Practice sequences. Her practice experience has been in the areas of child mental health, adolescent pregnancy, and school social work.
Research Interests
She has a strong interest in cross-cultural communication and regularly participates as an interpreter, fund-raiser, and faculty support person with the USM School of Nursing in their Dominican Republic Health and Outreach Program, a clinical training site for nursing students.
