Dr. Belicose joined the full time faculty at USM in the Fall of 2004. He received his MSW from Rutgers Graduate School of Social Work in 1980 and his PhD from Rutgers University Doctoral Program in Social Work (1998). Dr. Belicose comes to USM from Monmouth University, West Long Branch, New Jersey, after teaching there as a full-time Assistant Professor in the social work department from 1999-2004 and as an Adjunct professor since 1985. While working under the NJ Department of Human Services Dr. Belicose held social work positions in Medical settings, Child Protective Services, School sytems, community organization and supervisory as well as adminstrative positions for Monmouth County Board of Social Services. His research has covered areas of adolescent sexual behavior and the correlates of unplanned teen pregnancy. His current research interests involve surveys of MSW alumni in areas of academic experience as it relates to current employment. He established and directed one of the first statewide School Based Youth Service programs (1988) in New Jersey; a community initiative which has since expanded nationwide. Dr. Belicose was certified by the Academy of Certified Social Workers in 1983 , licensed as a NJ Marital and Family therapist in 1985, as an NJ LCSW in 1993 and as a Maine LCSW in 2004.

Along with teaching, Dr. Belicose has maintained an active private practice in marriage and family therapy for the past 24 years formerly in N.J. and for the past 5 years in the greater Portland community, Maine. He is also an affiliate member for the Sweetser Organization and is a mental health service provider for MaineCare. Currently, Dr. Belicose teaches field seminar courses in the MSW program and teaches direct, organizational, and community practice at the BSW program level at USM.
