USM's Lewiston-Auburn College's bachelor degrees in Arts and Humanities and Natural and Applied Sciences integrate courses in the degree programs with education courses that provide the knowledge and skills needed for K-8 and Secondary teacher certification.  Those who want to teach at the elementary level or secondary science, english or social studies are prime candidates for these majors.

Students in these programs acquire classroom-based teaching skills from the very beginning of their study, as coursework combines practical field-based experiences with an understanding of teaching philosophies, history, and methods.  Courses also provide the content knowledge necessary for certification and may be taken by either full-time or part-time students.

Classes at Lewiston-Auburn College are small and our facilities are state-of-the-art.  You'll work closely with knowledgeable professors who know and care about you, and who have years of combined expertise in their fields.  Whether you are a recent high-school graduate or a seasoned professional contemplating a new profession, at Lewiston-Auburn College you'll get the chance to make your world better through being a teacher!

For more information on these programs, call (207) 753-6618 or send us an email.  We can help you receive credit for prior coursework or work experience and discuss standardized exam options that can earn you college credit.  We'll also ensure a seamless transition to USM's Lewiston-Auburn College from Maine's Community Colleges.
