Gulf of Mexico Track 2010

We sailed on the Odyssey, a 93-foot ketch motorsailer that had previously circumnavigated the globe studying sperm whales. Our voyage launched July 17, 2010 from Portland, Maine, entered the Gulf on August 8, 2010 and ended November 8, 2010 in Key West, Florida. The voyage lasted 115 total days with 59 days spent at sea on effort. We focused primarily on waters 3,000 feet or deeper and traveled 6,500+ miles. We visited 10 ports including Beaufort, NC, West Palm Beach, FL, Key West, FL, St. Petersburg, FL, Pensacola, FL, Mobile, AL, Bayou La Batre, AL, Biolxi, MS, Venice, LA, and Port Fourchon, LA. We covered the width of the Gulf ranging from Key West, Florida to Corpus Christi, Texas. We traveled within 2 miles of Deepwater Horizon epicenter.
