A Busy Summer: Book and Two New Courses this Fall for Prof. Ariel Rogers

Ariel Rogers, Assistant Professor of Film Studies and Women & Gender
Studies Affiliated Scholar, has been completing the preparation of her
book for publication. Titled Cinematic Appeals: The Experience of New
Movie Technologies, it is due out this fall from Columbia University
Press.  This summer, she is also preparing the courses she will offer for
USM's new Cinema Studies minor, which launches this fall. These include
an introductory course in cinema studies (CMS 284), a survey of
international film history to 1945 (CMS 286), and a course on the
melodramas of filmmakers Douglas Sirk, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, and Todd Haynes (CMS 310/WST 345).
