 Molecular Level Outreach

This program provides class presentations and workshops in molecular graphics and molecular modeling on the USM campuses or at your school or workplace. Participants learn how to use personal computers to display, study, and analyze the structures of proteins, nucleic acids and other biological molecules. They also learn how to obtain structures from databases on the World Wide Web.

Presentations from Molecular Level Outreach feature free molecular graphics programs that you can obtain from the World Wide Web and use on your personal computer (Macintosh, PC-Windows, Linux, or SGI). Contents of presentations are customized for your group.

Note to professional scientists: A Molecular Level workshop can help practicing scientists who want to catch up with the exciting tools of molecular modeling. Contact Gale Rhodes if you are interested.

This page provides links to resources for participants in Molecular Level Outreach. Use links on this page to get programs, tutorials that teach you how to use them, and molecular models to study.

Costs

Molecular Level Outreach is supported by donations to the USM Annual Fund. Classroom presentations or USM campus workshops are free to public-school groups, although donations by school groups are accepted. Workshops for professionals are provided in return for donations of $300 for academic groups and $1200 for industrial groups. Consulting on molecular modeling is available at a negotiated hourly rate.

Donations in support of Molecular Level Outreach or payments for workshops should be made in the form of a check to
