The University of Maine System Early College program opened a new door for Sabrina Freeman back in high school. Now, a generous Promise Scholarship is opening countless more doors. With funding support for her education, the student-athlete works closely with her advisor to stay on track to graduate, and she connects with her peers to develop career skills and engage in community service.

MEMIC Issues $20,000 Access to Education Challenge to USM Community
To help students ineligible for federal financial aid, whose college dreams would otherwise be a distant reality, USM has partnered with MEMIC to created the Access to Education Scholarship. In the month of April, MEMIC will match funds donated to the scholarship up to $20,000. Help open doors for aspiring students today.
USM to offer New England's first doctoral program in Leadership
USM will launch New England's first doctoral Leadership program in the fall of 2020. The new program, available online, will build on USM’s growing and highly regarded Leadership and Organizational Studies program which currently offers bachelors and masters degrees, as well as minors and certificates.

Environmental Science professor training next generation of insect ecologists
Since 2009, USM Assistant Professor of Environmental Science Joe Staples and his undergraduate and graduate researchers have collaborated with the Maine Medical Center Research Institute’s Vector-Borne Disease Laboratory on a host of projects to monitor and control mosquitoes and ticks throughout Maine. It's all part of training Maine's next generation of environmental researchers.
