2-D ART FOUNDATIONS - Open Studios Fall 2020
Work from Students enrolled in three sections of ART 141 (Surface, Space, & Time 2-D) with Instructors Jan Piribeck and Rebecca Goodale. This Studio Art Foundation course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of 2-D design and color theory through a series of exercises and applied problems in visual organization. Jan Piribeck's two sections were taught blended face-to-face/online. Rebecca Goodale's section was taught synchronously online.
The first 16 images are from Jan Piribeck's ART 141 students. Her classes had a thematic focus tied to the Gulf of Maine Eco Arts Project, which is an interdisciplinary project being organized by artist Anna Dibble in cooperation with the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences. During the semester the students learned about oceanic ecosystems, and learned design principles through studying common Maine plankton forms. They used different materials and techniques to explore ways of composing and interpreting imagery.
The final 16 unique images were created by Rebecca Goodale's ART 141 students.
