This summer Art Professor Jan Piribeck participated in USM's first Digital Humanities Institute. The institute brought together a small group of faculty and staff to focus on multimodality and writing across the curriculum. Professor Piribeck presented her creative work and student public art projects focusing on sea level change. Participants explored digital tools and pedagogy and created lesson plans integrating the arts, humanities and digital technology. The program was organized by English Professors John Muthyala and Jessica Ouellette, who received a Program Innovation Fund through the U Maine system to pilot the project. The hope is that this will become the basis for expanding additional institutes in the summers of 2019 and 2020.
