Four Members of the USM Art Department Currently Exhibiting at Cove Street Arts in Three Different Exhibitions.

Dahlia Diptych

On view now at Cove Street Arts in Portland’s Back Cove are works by three Faculty and one Staff member of the USM Art Department.

Professor Jan Piribeck is showing her animation, “Arctic Dream”, in STEAM, Curated by Wes LaFountain.  One of the current models of American education is called STEM, an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This mixed-media exhibition, connecting ‘high tech’ and ‘high touch’ sensibilities, explores the relationship with STEM and the Arts.

Science + technology + engineering + mathematics = STEM

This show will be on exhibit October 15 - December 31, 2020.

Damir Porobic, Lecturer of Art, and Amy Hagberg, Administrative Specialist, have several works in Faculty Photography, Curated by Bruce Brown.  To see what’s next in fine art photography, look to those teaching the next generation of photographers. Lin Lisberger, Part-time Lecturer of Art, has several sculptures in Flight, Curated by Lissa Hunter.  In Flight, Eight Maine artists present work based on their individual interpretations of flight.  Arrows.  Sledding.  Space.  Freedom.  Super heroes.  Escape.  Butterflies.  Fleeing fear. And, yes, birds.  This show will be on exhibit September 24 - December 5, 2020.
