Two installations of artwork from the ICELANDx207 project by artist, photographer, and USM Art alum, Justin Levesque (B.F.A., '10), are now being shown on the Portland campus in conjunction with the 2016 Arctic Council Conference being held in Portland in October 2016.  The installations include images from Portland’s International Ferry Terminal, excerpts from North Atlantic Maps, and visions of water that evoke being at sea.  These installations are part of a USM Digital Humanities initiative supported by Maine Economic Improvement Funds, and represent the ways in which the arts and the creative process intersect with commerce.

Levesque’s installations will be on view September 6 - October 31, 2016, in both the Abromson Center Mezzanine (88 Bedford St., Portland) and the Glickman Family Library (314 Forest Ave., Portland).

Additional Arts and Humanities programming includes a lecture on The New North Atlantic with Historian Dr. John Gillis on September 28th, beginning with a reception at 5:00 p.m. in the Cohen Education Center, 1st floor, Glickman Family Library, 314 Forest Ave., Portland.
