GORHAM, Maine - Freshman Richard Glemawu (Accra, Ghana/South Kent (Conn.)) and senior Charlie Mull(Portland, Maine/Cheverus) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's soccer team have each been recognized for their outstanding play as recipients of post-season honors from the Little East Conference following a vote of LEC coaches.
Glemawu, the Huskies' standout freshman goalkeeper, earned second team all-conference honors and was named the 2017 Little East Conference Rookie of the Year. Mull, one of the Huskies' co-captains, was named first team all-conference as a defender.
In his third season with the Huskies, the versatile Mull, who has played forward, midfield, goalkeeper and defender at various times during his career, helped anchor a stingy Southern Maine defense in 2017 that allowed just 1.69 goals against in the course of 19 games. Taking on some of the Huskies' toughest defensive assignments, Mull was a leader on the back line, and came up with several big plays during the season in the air and during one-v-one defensive moments. With the ability to score, Mull added one goal and one assist in 2017, including an assist in USM's 4-2 win over local rival University of New England. In 44 career games played, Mull has earned 40 starting assignments. He has three goals and two assists for eight points in his career. A Health Science major, Mull is a 2016-2017 William B. Wise Scholar Athlete. READ MORE
