GORHAM, Maine -- The full fields for the 2018 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships were announced this morning with two members of the University of Southern Maine men's and women's teams among the competitors.
Making their first trip to the indoor championships will be sophomore Adela Kalilwa (Lewiston, Maine) from the women's team and freshman Zach Hoyle (Sidney, Maine/Messalonskee) from the men's team. The championships will be held this Friday and Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama. The event is being hosted by Birmingham-Southern College and the Birmingham CrossPlex.
For each men's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 15 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each women's individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 17 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.
Hoyle is the seventh seed among the 15 men's competitors in the 800 meters. He qualified based upon his conversion time of 1:51.87 (actual time of 1:53.47) at the Maine State Open meet on February 24. Hoyle's appearance at the NCAA championships marks the seventh consecutive year that USM has sent a competitor(s) to men's championships. READ MORE
