GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine Huskies field hockey and women’s soccer teams and University’s Campus Safety Project are partnering up to host Domestic Violence Awareness games on Saturday, October 13. In a pair of Little East Conference game, Huskies’ women’s soccer will host UMass Dartmouth (12:00 p.m.) and Huskies’ field hockey will take on Westfield State (3:00 p.m.).
The Huskies’ Domestic Violence Awareness games are part of an on-going series of events sponsored by USM’s Campus Safety Project throughout the academic year. With the month of October being Domestic Violence Awareness month, USM’s Campus Safety Project will be on hand at Hannaford Field during both games providing resources, educational materials and raising awareness on issues regarding healthy relationships and sexual assault.
“To change our world for the better, we have to be willing to talk about dating and domestic violence,” said Sarah Gordon, Program Coordinator for USM’s Campus Safety Project. “We are honored to work with these student leaders in keeping the conversation going.
