GORHAM, Maine -- The Little East Conference announced Tuesday afternoon that University of Southern Maine junior Jake Dexter (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) and freshman Sam Troiano (South Portland, Maine) are two of the four major award recipients headlining this year's postseason baseball awards and all-conference team following a vote by the head coaches.
Dexter became the ninth USM player in the 22-year history of Little East Conference baseball to be named Player of the Year. Troiano is the ninth Husky to receive the Rookie of the Year honor.
In addition to the two major awards, four USM players were selected for spots on the all-conference team. Dexter was voted to the all-conference first team at second base and relief pitcher.
