GORHAM, Maine -- Three members of the University of Southern Maine men’s lacrosse team are recipients of weekly accolades from the Little East Conference for their performances during the week of March 9-15.
Selected as the Offensive Player of the Week was sophomore Nick James (Portland, Maine/Deering), junior Cruise Lizotte-Johnson (Sanford, Maine) was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman Curtis Judd (Saco, Maine/Albany Academies) was picked as the Rookie of the Week.
The weekly honors were the first for Judd and Lizotte-Johnson. James is collecting the second honor of his career to go along with a Rookie of the Week citation during the 2019 season.
In the Huskies lone game last week before the remainder of their season was cancelled due to the coronavirus health crisis, the trio played a major hand in a 25-8 win over Thomas College. James set a single-game goal scoring record notching eight goals to go along with two assists for a 10-point game.
Lizotte-Johnson was dominating at the center “X” winning 17 of 19 faceoffs and scooping up 16 ground balls. Judd made his presence felt on the offensive end collecting eight points on five goals and three assists.
In the three games that the Huskies did play this spring, James topped the scoring list with 19 points on 12 goals and seven assists. Judd was fourth on the list at 11 points on six goals and five assists. Lizotte-Johnson had 19 ground balls in addition to his 17 faceoff wins.
Southern Maine was 2-1 when the season ended.
