Pitts-Young and Christensen Earn MMBCWA Honor Roll Recognition

 

GORHAM, Maine – Junior Jayvon Pitts-Young (Portland, Maine) and freshman Evan Christensen (Old Orchard Beach, Maine/Thornton Academy) each earned a spot on the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association Honor Roll after strong performances in the University of Southern Maine Huskies lone game of the week -  an 85-81 overtime win against Little East Conference opponent Keene State College. 

            Earning MMBCWA Rookie Honor Roll honors for the second consecutive week, Christensen, who has started the last six games for the Huskies, had seven points, five rebounds, five assists and a steal in 35 minutes of action.  Christensen's five assists were a game, season and career-high for the 6-4 rookie guard.  Christensen is averaging 5.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists per game for Southern Maine, and is shooting 46.3 percent from the field.  He has career-highs of 21 points (Western New England; December 30); 12 rebounds (Rhode Island College; December 8); five assists (Keene State; January 5) and three steals (Bowdoin; December 9).
