Southern Maine Men's Ice Hockey Places Ten on NEHC All-Academic Team

            GORHAM, Maine -- Seniors Maverick Lynes (Christina Lake, B.C.) and Adam Papayoanou (Valencia,. Calif.) headline the University of Southern Maine men’s ice hockey team’s contingent of 10 players named to the 2020-21 New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) All-Academic team.  NEHC commissioner Katie Boldvich released the list of recipients today (Friday, April 16).

            To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a player must carry a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average and have complete one full year at their current institution.

            Lynes and Papayoanou are receiving the honor for the third straight year.  Joining them on the list are second-time honorees Oskar Bjurstrom (Stockholm, Sweden), Brendan Dowler (New Preston, Conn.), Tyler Gardiner (Watertown, Mass.), Bobby Kinsey (Leechburg, Penn.), Derek Tillotson (Bow, N.H.) and Adam Withers (Kenora, Ont.).

            Completing the list of Huskies are first-time recipients Tanner McClure (Buxton, Maine) and Nick Ritmo (Niskayuna, N.Y.).

            A total of 141 student-athletes representing all nine NEHC institutions are receiving the honor.

            Southern Maine completed its abbreviated 2020-21 season with a 2-2 mark.
