Physics professor to teach astronomy to Buddhist monks in India
USM Professor of Physics Julie Ziffer will spend part of her summer in India, where she will teach astronomy to Tibetan Buddhist monks and nuns as part of the 2019 Robert A. Paul Emory-Tibet Science Initiative.
Center for Compassion director joins Maine Public for discussion of kindness
Vaishali Mamgain, the director of the Center for Compassion at the University of Southern Maine, served as a guest on Maine Public’s radio call-in show “Maine Calling.” The Feb. 8 show, themed around the issue of kindness, was a part of the PBS celebration of Fred Rogers’ legacy and the airing of the documentary, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor.”
