SUMMARY:Revolutions
DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin us for an innovative evening of musical exploration featuring the “evolving scripted looping” technique developed by composer Dan Sonenberg. This unique concert presents original compositions that blur the boundaries between acoustic performance and electronic manipulation\, creating both immediate and transformative soundscapes. \nExperience an intriguing interplay between traditional instruments and technology. Though each sound originates from a live performance\, through the “scripted looping” technique\, these musical elements recur and transform throughout each piece to create complex\, evolving structures. \nThe program includes four solo compositions written during Sonenberg’s Fall 2024 sabbatical\, alongside collaborative performances featuring Hans Spencer on the 2019 composition “But Why\,” Sonenberg’s first scripted looping piece\, and a new work performed with cellist Ben Noyes. This concert offers a rare glimpse into the composer’s artistic development and the exciting possibilities that emerge when traditional musicianship meets innovative electronic techniques. \nAfter-Concert Q&A\nFollowing the performance\, audience members are invited to join composer Dan Sonenberg for an intimate Q&A session exploring the innovative “evolving scripted looping” technique showcased throughout the evening. Gain insight into Sonenberg’s creative process\, the technical aspects behind his compositions\, and the artistic journey leading to his music-making approach. Come curious and engage directly with the artist as he shares the inspiration and methodology behind these captivating works that bridge traditional musicianship with cutting-edge technology \n  \nTickets go on-sale September 5th. \nTickets available through PortTIX\, the official box office for the Osher School of Music. \nPHONE 207-842-0800\nONLINE www.porttix.com\nIN-PERSON 400 Congress St Suite A\, Portland\, ME 04101 \n\nEvent Details\nParking\nDue to limited resources\, parking is not free on our Portland and Gorham campuses.
