Inventor tests new heating device at USM

Searsmont machinist John Foster is developing an electric heating unit he says will be able to heat a three-bedroom home through the winter for a fraction of the cost of of conventional baseboard heating units or fuel oil.

The patent-pending device underwent independent testing through USM's Campus Ventures program.
