Research, Scholarship & Creative Activity Funding: Call for Proposals
The Center for Collaboration and Development, the Research Service Center and the Provost's Office are currently accepting proposals for summer funds (up to $10,000) to support faculty and professional staff working on research, scholarship, and creative activity (RSCA) projects. The general purpose of these grants is to provide support for summer salary (as add-comps), student salary, travel, publishing costs, and supplies to promote the research, scholarship, and creative activity of the faculty and professional staff and to foster academic excellence within the University. Applications are due by 5:00 pm on June 3, 2016. Once all applications are received, a group of faculty and professional staff from each college/school will review them according to the following criteria: originality of the RSCA; RSCA not fully supported by other grants or funding sources inside or outside of USM; a project that can be started over the summer months; and work that has the potential to be published or shared in a significant venue (conference, public event, etc). A brief (2-3 page) report on the activities will be due by all recipients by June 30, 2017, and all recipients will be required to share their research with the USM community through the Center For Collaboration and Development.
Awards will be announced no later than June 10th, 2016, and the funding must be spent by May 31, 2017. We do realize this is a short turn around time, and we hope that this funding can help support the important work our faculty and staff do over the summer. If funding allows, grants similar to these will be available much earlier for the AY 2016/2017. If you have any questions please contact Lucille Benedict, director for the Center for Collaboration and Development, firstname.lastname@example.org.
