USM faculty (current and retired) and professional staff are cordially invited to attend an informal luncheon to learn about teaching opportunities in the Russell Scholars Program (RSP).

Join us for a light buffet; meet some RSP faculty and students; and learn how, since 1996, USM's internationally recognized residential learning community has attracted 25% of its students from out-of-state and maintained a retention rate of  85%.

Wednesday, November 13th

12:00 Noon - 2pm

Faculty Dining Room, Brooks Student Center, Gorham Campus

Please RSVP to Steve Romanoff, Director, RSP - / 780-5751.

There are flexible opportunities for designing and teaching innovative 1 to 3 credit Core classes to students who flourish in a collaborative community environment.

RSP courses are interdisciplinary and often team-taught. They feature related service-learning and co-curricular opportunities such as attending theatrical productions and visiting historic sites relevant to course work.

Russell Scholars Program

Every fall, RSP admits 50 average-to-excellent students who may satisfy some of their general education requirements in small classes with classmates and faculty whom they readily get to know. First-year students in the program are expected to live and take some RSP classes in Woodward Hall on the Gorham Campus. After their first year, they may participate at whatever level they choose, taking RSP courses at their convenience. Students who choose to remain active in RSP and graduate as Russell Scholars will complete additional RSP electives and Core course work that complement their academic majors and career goals.
