Using Electronic Notes for Academic Advising

The University of Maine system recently unveiled “Advising Notes,” a new tool on Mainestreet to assist in academic advising.  In this workshop, open to faculty and staff, you will be guided through the process of utilizing this tool to make your life easier!

Beth Higgins, Executive Director for Student Success, and Libby Bischof, Associate Professor of History and Chair of the CAHS Advising Committee, will demonstrate the functionality of the tool, as well as provide other useful tips for utilizing Mainestreet for advising purposes.

All USM faculty advisors have the ability to use Advising Notes after completing the basic training module (approximately 15 minutes in length) located on the faculty member’s blackboard account and then sending the certificate of completion to their appropriate college representative.  The module is called “Mainestreet Advising Notes” and it consists of a brief training around FERPA issues, and instructions to complete the certification process.

The training takes approximately 15 minutes to complete, and we encourage participants to complete the training module before attending the workshop.

Note: Even if you don’t have a chance to complete the training prior to attendance, the workshop will still be beneficial for you!
