Over the course of this academic year, a Facilities Master Planning Steering Committee composed of USM staff, faculty, students, and community representatives has been collecting and reviewing data on the facility needs of all three USM campuses. The data, along with stakeholder interviews and community input, is being used by the Steering Committee to develop a Facilities Master Plan for USM’s future.
The Steering Committee is just now putting together a first draft of a Facilities Master Plan, which it would like to share with our campus community and our neighbors at the upcoming Public Forums, as well as at the scheduled March meetings of the Student Government Association and the Faculty, Professional and Classified Senates.
Feedback from the SGA, the Senate meetings and the Public Forums will be used to inform a final Master Plan, which the Steering Committee expects to complete in May or June.
Please note that the Portland Public Forums will primarily focus on the Portland campus, and the Gorham Public Forum will primarily focus on the Gorham campus.
Please also note that there is no scheduled forum on the Lewiston-Auburn campus, as a review of the Lewiston-Auburn facility has determined it to be in good shape and meeting current needs. Any changes there will be informed by a discussion of future programming at LAC, which will be considered at a later date.
