Description: In this course, students will learn the process of writing scripts for films. A variety of concept development strategies, writing exercises, script examples, and screenings will be used to encourage students to develop their creative writing skills. Emphasis will be placed throughout the class on the process of screenwriting, from idea formation through writing and revision. Each student will produce a detailed outline/beat sheet for a feature-length film. Prerequisites: College Writing. Cr. 3.

CMS 326 Special Effects and Animation

Description: This course combines an exploration of the history of Special Effects and Animation with hands-on real-world projects. Students will work with flip-books, stop-motion and rotoscope animation as well as special effects techniques such as masking, multi-plane, green screen, and motion tracking. Students will be using After Effects, Photoshop, and Premiere. Some experience with Photoshop is recommended.
