Tech Tutors

Learning Commons in partnership with CTEL offers the Tech Tutors program. Tech Tutors is a team of USM students who have been selected and trained by the Learning Commons to support USM students with a set of learning technologies that are used in USM courses. This set includes: Microsoft Office Suite, Google Office, Adobe Connect, VoiceThread, Grammarly, Screencast-o-matic and MiniTab. Please note, Tech Tutors do not provide Blackboard related support. USM’s Helpdesk should be contacted for Blackboard related questions.

There are three ways to access support from a Tech Tutor:

1. Schedule a one-on-one appointment (online or in person) via our AskOnline self-scheduling platform. Times are available in Gorham, Portland, and online. To access the appointments, go to and click on "Schedule a Tutoring Appointment". "Technology" is one of the subject areas available on the list. If you need assistance scheduling an appointment, please call The Learning Commons at (207)780-5577.

2. Review the "how to" videos and documents created by the Tech Tutors on our Technology Assistance webpage. These materials cover a wide range of platforms including Adobe Connect, VoiceThread, Google Apps, and Excel. The page is updated regularly with new resources. 

3. Submit a question through the "Got a Quick Question" box on the "Home" tab of the Technology Assistance webpage. We recommend starting with the videos on the page, and then using this question option. A technology tutor will email a response within 24-48 hours of the submission.
