Al Leighton has over 25 years of Survey Research experience, including 18 years as Manager of the Muskie School’s Survey Research Center. He is currently the Survey Director for the Maine Tobacco HelpLine satisfaction survey for Maine Health's Center for Tobacco Independence. He has designed and managed numerous survey projects in Maine, including studies of crime victimization in Maine in both 2011 and 2015, a survey of food buying and growing habits of Maine’s citizens, and the recently concluded study of home health care needs for the Office of Adult and Disability Services. An active member of the survey research profession, he has participated in many regional, national and international conferences held to improve survey research methodology. In addition, he is the vice president of the Board of Directors of One Longfellow Square, a non-profit music, arts and community center in Portland. He generally can be found there anywhere from 2 to 6 nights a week.
