In July, the Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) was awarded a $300,000 two-year grant by the U.S. Economic Development Administration to support economic response and recovery efforts in Maine in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. CBER will deliver technical assistance and data-driven economic research to Maine's industries, organizations, and regions to help the state's economy rebound from the effects of the pandemic more quickly and find opportunities to strengthen Maine's workforce. CBER will lead a project team that consists of collaborators in USM's Department of Hospitality and Tourism, UMaine's Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center, and the UMaine Department of Economics, working closely with the state's regional economic development districts.
